You're right Uwe. I'll throw the pics and design in the bin.
Can't keep up with Gibson's break neck pace  ;D

You two will have to make the way once more, that's all, and be our welcome guests! Holländers are cute even without their own TV shows.

Obeche is a largely unprotected wood and even if it wasn't, hey, it's from Nigeria, a most corruption-free country, so everything will be alright I'm sure.

A specialized use of obeche wood is the construction of sauna interior parts that touch skin, where the wood is prized for its lack of splinters or resin, and most importantly its low heat retention.[citation needed]

Excellent. But before you sit on the neck while naked, make sure those fret ends are smooth.

With a fresh set of rounds and the gain on the SVT up higher than I usually have I could reproduce that sound with my RD Sauna no sweat. Bit of Ric in there too, but the RDs were always closer in sound to a Fender or Ric than to a TBird. Their looks belied.

So is that the way of the future for Gibson then, bringing out lots of new bass models - this would be number 5 (Hobbitbird, Junior, pregnant LP, Explorer and now this here, Shavo Signature and possibly coming Flying V bass not yet counted) within a year - in smaller numbers to gratify collectors and niche people? I wouldn't have thought I'd see the day. Let's face it, Gibson essentially lost the bass battle as early as the fifties, regained some ground in the sixties and early seventies and by the eighties, nineties, noughties and today was back to being a niche and esoteric producer of basses again. If they now highlight exact that image they at least flaunt what they've already got.

You mean it's sat neck then?  :o

Well, in a sauna, sap neck more likely.
