I suppose I'll have to buy one of these now.  It's a fairly loose "copy" of his home-modded first bass - although this one is fretted, is a different colour, different headstock/bridge etc.

I think you will.  :)

Probably won't be a big seller, this long after Bill's career with the Stones. Nice that they did it, though, and it looks like it's nicely appointed.

Hah, ya beat me to it Mark. I just spotted this.

So, asside from the frets, bridge, tuners, headstock and color (and probaly body wood) it's just like Bill Wyman's first bass  :P

Actually, that is a nice looking bass. I like the headstock.

What is the story on the neck pickup? "Baldwin"? It's from a piano ???

I'm guessing it's patterned after a Baldwin-era Burns bass, or one of the ones actually labeled Baldwin. Yes, the piano company. IIRC Baldwin bought Burns of London about the same time CBS bought Fender.

I talked about this one in Other Bass Brands, but at that without a picture. Two months ago Guitar and Bass UK reviewed it. I'll try to find the review.

I have to say, I agree with Scott.  I do like the Brian May bass they're showing on the site.

it would have more retro vibe with 2 of the burns type pickups together in the bridge position.that black one looks beamed in from a different century.
Louder bass!.

they also have a "less paul" and an "eb3" in their bass collection.!

I dont find it ugly at all. Bit too cute maybe but it has a bit of that Embassy/Newport thing happening which is kinda retro cool.

Interesting, thank you.  That's news I lose on this side of the Atlantic.
I hope that bass makes it over here.

IIRC he said the body was originally quite large, and he cut it down to size when he removed the frets.
