That's strange!

Isn't it? I thought it might just be mine but this one at Sweetwater looks the same.

Psycho Bass Guy

They get a better deal on precut Jazz nuts from their Chinese parts sources.  :o

One more, full body this time:

the activators are great pickups for the non old vintage crowd.... ;)  i have about 4 ofr 5 basses with them in them and they sound great but are "hifi" sounding,  which i happen to like...  Different sounding than my old series 2 which had the external preamp....FWIW my favorite aftermarket set of pups but the new price of $1100 is just silly.

some of my activatorized basses:

and IMO maybe the only warwick that sounds good after yanking the MEC stuff

Nice! What are the first and second ones?

I find that some of the filter settings don't sound as hi-fi as others...

We had our annual Northern California Alembic Gathering the other day - this time around a bunch of people played my Alembicized P-Bass - it was also dubbed the "AlFemBic" by Mica Wickersham (though I am thinking maybe it should be
AlFeMbic?) - managed to shoot some video of one of the people playing it:

He was playing through his GK MB800 head and a really neat speaker cabinet - the AudioKinesis Thunderchild 112.

Is this new block marker P Bass MIJ? Are the blocks painted or actual inlays? Can't get over that string spacing on the P neck...Will have to get around trying one of those out.

Oops sorry, saw that my questions were answered in the beginning of this thread. Still have to check out how that Jazz string spacing works out on a P neck.

I'm actually glad you asked this - it looks like the white one is now MIM. I noticed on the Sweetwater website that the white ones were no longer available - I have to admit I was a little bit psyched since it shows the end of a run. But now they are available again at Sweetwater. I like looking at the pictures they have of the actual instruments in stock - so imagine my surprise when I noticed that the serial number looked strange - I compared it to my "T" and this was an "MX" - I didn't even make the MIM connection until I looked at the pictures and saw there was no longer anything at the base of the neck like on MIJs - instead it's on the back of the headstock now. Same price though! I haven't seen any sunbursts like this yet - the one still available at Sweetwater as of this post is still MIJ.

I asked over at TB and no one else responded with anything like mine, so it could be a fluke! We took a couple of measurements at the Alembic Gathering:

neck width @ nut: 1.678
width from outside of E & G strings: 1.219

Not sure if these measurements help - let me know if you need any others!

Thanks for that info. Very intriguing. I'm just across the bay in SF, and have some time tomorrow and will head over to some of the usual places and check one out.

I got mine at Gelb Music down in Redwood City!
