A while back there was a discussion regarding recording studios and engineers who only want to work with Fender basses.

Well, a buddy borrowed my Jerry Jones Longhorn and took that plus four of his other basses (including his Ric) to the studio so he and his band could record an album. Today he told me they didn't want him to use any of his basses but that he had to use THEIR vintage Fenders and THEIR Ric.

I think this is lame and sounds to me like the studio and engineer never bothered to try and work with any other basses besides Fenders. Seems lazy to me, for what little I know.

I'd demand a discount for putting up with that shit.

Lame and lazy. Their job is to help you get the sound you want, not what they want.

I'd never return to that studio.

Arrogant, lazy, f*#king douchebag of an asshat engineer! >:(  I would have walked, that's like going to restaurant and being told that you could only have white wine with fish!  Who's the customer anyway?

Too lazy to twist a knob or two in the effort to make an instrument sound good, wow.

I wouldn't put up with that either. But, it makes me wonder what they have going on that allows them to pull that kind of thing and stay in business. Somebody must be happy with their final product.

Only one solution - show up with a 60s EB-0!

What's next? Making the band use the studio's singer? >:(

Why should you be treated any better than, say, the Monkeys?!

In truth, this is incredibly arrogant and frankly inept.

I though they weren't recruited until after the record was done.

At any rate, they got a grammy so that proves it was fine quality music.  ;D
