Just got back from a gig in our hometown Arnhem. The venue is called Luxor. It's an old movie theatre from the early 1910 era. The acoustics are horrible but it  it looks awesome... 8)

We did a support for The Wild Romance who used to be the band of a legendary Dutch rock n roll junkie called Herman Brood.
Brood died ten years ago. The band got back together this year. They've been playing their asses off lately ( 24 gigs in one month)

Their lead guitarist Danny Lademacher is an amazing guitarist. He plays beautiful short solos, to the point and melodic.
Plus he's a very gentle person. I am really thrilled I got to meet him backstage and chat with him before and after the gig.

When I got back home just an hour ago I switched on the TV and there was a concert of Larry Graham live at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Wow! What a tight band! Great horn section. Great Show. Great way to finish a lovely day  :toast:

A great day is a great day in every way... 8)

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

So they played their signature tune Saturday Night on a Friday? Who sings? I always loved the Wild Romance stuff.

Did Larry play his Warwick?

Yes they played Saturday Night. It was the encore. Technically it was already saturday  ;)

They have a Herman Brood look-a-like who does a good job.
I'm in two minds about him. He doesn't overdo it. But there are moments it gets close to a cabaret...

bad audio:

slightly better audio (from the gig they did yesterday afternoon, before they came to Arnhem)

Larry who??

Their bass player is Rudy Englebert who was with the Wild Romance in the late eighties

Larry Graham I meant - LOL!

Die HE play his Warwick in the TV show you saw. He's a Warwick endorser of late.

D'oh of course Larry Graham  :-[   (I was too caught up in the Wild Romance)

No he didn't play a Warwick. He played an all white Jazz Bass (white fretboard even)

looks like what he played before the warwicks.  IIRC moon bass.  notice slight angle of pup versus the fender.

Great outfit.   and i like the mic thing

I have never been a huge fan of slapping but he is different and a pioneer  in that aspect.  Needs  acoustic 360 to really get the funk...

Agreed, excellent pictures, Rob you look & sound best with your LP's. I just cant picture you with any other bass. Funny how we search & search for another bass, yes that perfect bass for you  already possess.
