Several months ago I picked up the Squier Jag  (the one with the stacked concentric controls) and was rather facinated that the body/neck were well balanced, simplicity of the controls and the sound as well and then shocked when I saw the $299. price tag!

Check this thread - especially the photos near the end of the thread - the VM Jag I picked up for under $150, and the modded Bronco.

Hmm, I've got a JAEbird pickguard I screwed up, pup route in the wrong place for the last bass I built.  That pup would fill the hole just right!

All it really needs is a paintjob. I don't like sunburst so I had mine refinished in Vintage Guacamole.

Here it is together with Martin's modded modified and an original one.

Always wondered how those pups sound in bridge position soloed.

I installed a F neck plate and have '70s RI Fender tuners on the way :) Still unsure about doing the logo, I most likely won't

I got the tuners today! Made in Germany (Schaller?) they must be good ;) All installed pics to come. I did the Fender logo  :-[  I couldn't help myself I got some 800 grit and wet sanded the logo, it came off so easy. I left the made in Indonesia and the serial # on the back.

looks really good. still don't know why folks disguise a perfectly good bass. i won't replace something unless it breaks, especially on a fender. to each his own i guess. i still want one. ;)

I wasn't going to do the decal but once I got the tuners off and I already had the decal left over from another project I couldn't resist. It took me longer to do the tuners than to wet sand off the logo, put the decal on and hit it with a couple of coats of flat clear. I know I am only fooling myself.
