I just knew from research it was between 66 and 69.

One might ask why keep the original headstock? As a restoration/conservationist I like to leave as much original as possible, even bad work and repairs become part of a pieces history. As for the finish for now I would like to keep it in the black metalic refin...........................The bass has a history that might (that s a BIG might) lead it to Jethro Tull. I want to mess with it as little as possible.

Yep your right! They may have even started coming out in late '65.

I'm impressed by the work you're doing, Scott! Right now I'm rebuilding a not-to-big bookshelf, and that takes all my imagination and energy. So I kinda envy people who can do those guitar works. Good luck! :o

Will the band be doing some Tull now, if not already? Just no snot running down your nose, Thank you.......

I just did some restoration work on a 1770's tilt top birdcage candle stand..............................this is far less nerve wracking.

That plate will be a nice match with the one you have in your skull, Scott? Do you still hear Bulgarian shortwave radio snippets at night?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh that's what that language is thanks for the clarification Uwe.

Scott, let me check my parts boxes. I used to have a whole fretboard from an NR. If I can find it I'll send it to you. I still need to send that Model G anyway!

Edit: I found it. If you're interested I can take some pics. It's from a 67 I got in pieces a few years ago. It's in pretty good shape and looks like it was removed with care. I still have a project to send in for repair so this stuff could go toward that in trade. Let me know...

George that would be great ! I could really use a section of fingerboard.  :)

Psycho Bass Guy

I wondered what that hump under the trussrod cover was! Never thought about somebody putting a plate in there. Was I just being hypersensitive in regards to the spreading finish cracks on the back of the neck? The case should have fit it but had too much top padding and too low of a cutaway for the neck, placing the stress load of any shock squarely on the tip of the headstock. I'm thinking maybe the metal plate was insurance because of the case.
