i think everyone of note or semi note who passed through mayall's bands should throw a huge appreciation/tribute concert. it better be quick because the guy is around 150 years old. hopefully someone with the power to do so will have the same notion.

He's still touring. You'll have to slow him down first.

And he usually organises his own tribute gigs .......  ;D

I can't even tell you how many times I've seen him and the numerous bands he has toured with. Always something different and always a great show ;D.

One of my favorite bands was the USA Union album where they did Room To Move. Larry Taylor on bass is always a big deal for me. This was the band with no drummer, which I thought was pretty unique. The most unique thing about it was , they did a real percussive piece that was the equivalent of a drum solo, but with no drums :o.  All his stuff was great but having the balls to pull off a drum solo without drums just really stuck with me ;D.

I saw Mayall a couple of times 3-4 years ago.  He still had the knack of picking up a good band. And just moves them on when they start asking for money.  8)

Sobering thought, what we might not have had if Mayall hadn't been there in the 60s. Or not in the same form, anyway.

Cream, Fleetwood Mac & Collosseum for starters and of course loads of bands that are all but forgotten these days like the Keef Hartley Band and the Aynsley Dunbar Retalliation ........

I just ordered the "Beano" CD after a Clapton feature I read in Classic Rock. It will be my first mayall album.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

If you mean the David Bowie, Journey and Whitesnake ones as well as Mothers Army then yes, but I'm afraid that was not what you were hoping for!

I saw Mayall twice once in 1982 at the Roxy in Hollywood with Mick Taylor, John McVie & Colin Allen on Drums GREAT show! McVie used a Gibson EB w/banjo pegs the next time was at The Place in I think '84 w/ Tim Drummond on Bass good but not like the Roxy show because Mayall invited a few guests one a Guitarist & that caused Mick Taylor to kind of hang back & let the other guy show off,

I've always liked Mayall.  The only album I have from him is USA Union, which I like.  I may have to get Beano someday.

Greg Rzab has been playing with him for a while now since his tenure in the Buddy Guy band. Great bass player and a lovely guy. As far as I know he is still with Mayall.
