A friend of mine...a HORN player in his 60s....actually still owns a Strat Hendrix gave him back in the '60s when they both used to play in The Village/NYC. He told me Hendrix was a friend and saw him writing a song at a club one night on his horn and said "you don't have a guitar?" and gave him a Strat.
This guy is a really quiet, unassumong, low-key guy. Still has it under his bed. says he probably has no way to prove it was Jimi's but kept it all this time because he was so broken up when Hendrid died.
I originally met this guy when he was managing a window factory in his 50s and still giggin part-time. He showed me some old photos and knew enough correct names and places from that period. I really think he's legit. A pretty cool thing to own, especially since it was a gift.
