That remark about the fake blood, sweat and make up smears was because the very same bass was first sold to fans at  after gig meet n greets for $ 5000.

As I understand it the 5k bass was not bolt on but neck through or at least set neck, had EMGs etc. On the last tour Gene would play your choice of a Punisher or AXE bass onstage, autograph it and do a meet and greet. The Axe II is the budget version for moes like me.

Maybe the quality of the Cort is not very consistent? The one I tested really was a ... 

I would've loved to be able write what a surprisingly good bass it was, despite my preoccupied scepsism.
But it just wasn't good, so I couldn't.

   The day I bought mine I was not looking for one. I walked into the H.O.G. and they had them, believe me I didn't expect much when I picked it up. I was surprised by the ones I tried, I picked the best and took it home. A impulse buy for sure!
