My hunch is that we have a case of intellectual conceit of Herr Westheimer here. I'm sure he uses a secret spell check because his posts never have mistakes. And at the same time he keeps it from us so that we look dunb. That is soooooo him!!! Secretly, he's laughing about us, the Minnesota man.

Hmmm, I thought the zoom view looked like this:

Laughton's make-up was brilliant in this (and obviously an inspiration for the Disney version which remains my favorite Disney cartoon from the story-telling, it had the most nuanced Disney villain ever) and never bettered in the countless remakes (IIRC, then Laughton's version wasn't the first either). In the sixties version, Anthony Quinn, though a great actor, was an ill fit (though he looked certainly more "gypsy" than Laughton).
