James Gang

Does anyone have any info on possible future plans for the James Gang?  I know they did a tour in 2006, but that's the last I heard of them.  There isn't much on their site.  Just that they're not on tour and that Joe Walsh is touring with the Eagles.

I doubt I will ever get to see them live in my lifetime but it would please me greatly to do so. That said, Joe Walsh has an affinity with Australia having played in a band here called the Party boys before they froze hell.

Who do you prefer as a bassist for The James Gang?
Tom Kriss or Dale Peters?


Personally I like them both, just thought it interesting to ask other people opinions.

dale peters. never heard of the other guy. i guess i quit listening by the time he came along. this reminds me of a story. i had just bought a james gang album in 1974 of whatever line up  that was. i was walking to my door and one of my neighbors said  "are you STILL listening to them." that comment always struck me as odd. music hipsters.

I'm unrepentant!!! That is classic US goodtime rock to me like only you guys can do it credibly! I liked Roy Kennar's (spelling?) voice, arch-American as it was.

Dale Peters for me too. I listened so much to Bang and Miami as a teenager, some of his riffs crept into my playing.


Flash thought: Did Kenny Loggins ever pay royalties for turning Walsh's riffing in Funk #49 into the chorus vocal melody of this timeless classic of adolescent exhuberance?

Come to think of it I also liked that stuff one of the very late incarnations did on the Newborn album (the one with the Dali pic on it).

part of what made me love JG was the power trio and clearly funk 49 should never be sung by anyone other than joe walsh.  I actually saw them with Bolin.  not a bad show
