Do you have to use a transsexual lesbian bass to get a ballsy sound or will a bull dyke bass do the job?...or are pickups masculine and the correct ones (a pair I assume) are all you need?  I'm confused.

The term 'scream like a little girl' comes to mind for some reason. ;)

All my basses have female names. In the last ten years I bought and sold some things, so I had over 40 basses in my house. Means I had to come up with lots of names...
Most of the time I use names of female friends and sometimes famous people. For example: My Gretsch is called Meryem and named after a gorgeous and crazy Turkish ballet dancer from Rotterdam (the city Uwe bombed).

Cool, my SG Bass' called Ruby also ........ Presently the other ladies in my harem are called Nellie ( P ), Marie ( Robin Ranger ), Lucy ( Tele II ), MaryAnne ( Rivoli ), Elenore ( Vista Musicmaster ), Candy ( Red Starfire ), Betty ( Ibanez CS ), Sheila ( Black Starfire ) & Donna ( the object of this thread ) .......

Of course all names are related to ( one or more ) songs, e.g. Donna's named after Donna The Prima Donna which is on the b-side of the ol' Dion DiMucci Ruby Baby 45 I've got in my meager singles collection and since the SG & the EB-3 are related it was the obvious choice .......

No Runaround Sue?  ;)

Ruby Baby was a hit in 1962, He'll Only Hurt you was on the flip side. Donna The Prima Donna was the A side in 1963, I never could figure out why they put Ruby Baby (again) on the other side.

Droombolus, that Epi looks absolutely killer!
Congrats!

on the "other" subject, My '75 Precision (the one from the story) is the only bass I have that I refer to as "She" or "Her".

Finally had the opportunity to compare these two babies with band practice last Wednesday.  Our drummer is awating a gall bladder operation and had been unable to attent for weeks……..

The Elite’s Sidewinder has clearly more output than the SG’s TB-Plus. It handles like a thoroughbread, only very precise playing will get you a constant sound level. It isn’t a Mud but it sounds like its first cousin, more high-mids and highs but not enough low-mids to make the choke a serious sound option. On the choke it sounds much too civilised to my taste, it may be an option when I find myself in an acoustic setting and she’s the only bass around.

Just like the TB-Plus PUP she produces an easy sweet spot combined with the mini HB and with the mini dialed back just a little she cuts through the band mix like a mo-fo. But in comparison the SG sounds like a wasp to the Elite’s bumble bee. The SG sound is a more modern variation on the Mud theme where the EB-3 is only once removed from the old familiar sound. Through the thicker body and thicker, broader neck it sounds much more meaty. She’s got a vibe of her own going and no doubt will prove a very nice addition to my collection.

Will this be enough Mein Führer or is ex-communication still looming ahead ?
