She's not the greatest singer on earth, but has a style of her own. More than a handful of good to decent songs in her career. I buy her CDs.

Maybe I'm just jealeous she had a thing with Henley or was it Frey? Never liked -"Read my lips, I don't dope"-Armstrong though. What an ass and bigot.

I never really understood all the Sheryl Crow bashing. I do suspect some envy...
She's a hell of good song writer. She plays bass, guitar, accordeon, piano. And she can play any of these while singing at the same time. I bet there's not a lot of us here who can do that. And she looks good.
I think she's an excellent singer Uwe. But she does have a tendency to sing too lazy, which comes across as uninspired, which annoys me sometimes.

But most important; she has an amazing band. I think Peter Stroud is one of the best guitarists on the planet!

I agree, nothing to envy. She does have an ear for what the pop-buying public likes, she can play, and she's cute. But to me, her songs are fluff and her voice is weak. JMHO, YMMV.

I don't begrudge anyone his or her success, even thug rappers. And I'd rather listen to Sheryl Crow than to a creature like Ke$ha. Still, her music is low on my preference list.

I don't like her songs either, but before she was a star, she taught music to special needs kids as public school teacher before she got a break as a backing singer for Micheal Jackson. Say what you want about that freak's "private life," he was a professional musician when it came to his stage productions.

Agreed, even though Ke$ha has been quoted in the media that she is sexually attracted to old fat men with a sense of humor.  On the other hand, Sheryl has never alluded that I have any chance with her, no matter how many testicles I have.

I find her voice tune- and youthful, but thin and not warm at all (Carole King isn't the greatest singer either, but she has a lot of warmth in her voice).  It suits the singer-songwriter stuff she does, but on the rockier stuff it begins to sound anorectic.

My wife likes her for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that she slept with Eric Clapton.   ;D

crow has a knack for showing up on every show even remotely concerning music. and whatever the type of music being honored or discussed she has DEEP roots in  it.

she has become the female carlos santana.

shamelss self promotion may be a good thing in show biz but i see it as pandering in her case. i think they are called 'media whores'.

At least Sheryl Crow and Carlos Santana are real musicians, overexposed or not. Better real musicians than reality show "stars" or winners of contrived competitons.

Does it ever bother you much to cry out "Layla, you got me on my knees!" when performing marital duties?

That said, it's probably more romantic than commanding "Lay down, Sally!"  ;)

But I can understand your wife, she obviously has taste (not least for the exquisite choice of hubbie!). Most rock guitarists tend to be Mel Gibson/Russell Crowe types, Eric Clapton, however, is more like Richard Gere/George Clooney. You can take him anywhere and he won't embarrass you, yet still turn a few (mostly female) heads. Women hate being embarrassed by their men they say.

LOL!  Have I ever told everyone that I got to interview Lita Ford up close back when?  And, after 20 years, my wife decides to tell me that she would have understood if I went for it.  Wench.
