Actually it's an Embassy, correct?  This is about 10 miles from my house, just saw the post today, fingers crossed!

Flash thought: There are probably even more Embassies with neck repairs than there are vintage TBirds. That batwing headstock was even more catastrophy-inviting ...
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

I'd say it is even.

If I were walking around Florida with some walking around money, I would be on that.

That's the one! Go get it!
Concerning prices on the Embassies, I talked to an old friend in Stockholm, Sweden, the other day. Halkan, who's the friend, and the guy to know in Sweden concerning basses, and guitars of vintage kind, looked into some international list for 2011, to check the recommended price on the Embassy. My jaw dropped when he told me the news; $2 100 for the older ones with the slimmer neck. What the... was all I could say. Fact is I didn't even know there were two kinds of necks. Though I knew that there are two kinds of teardrops. Del Shannon told us a long time ago... The ones I let go when I heard the recommended price was not of the happy kind.
Anyways; go for the sucker! That bass is a great one! As Chuck Berry learnt us: Go, go, go!

The guy finally called me at 4PM.  Got it, in rough shape, bad headstock repair that flexes with strings in tension, but all the original hardware, pots and tuners...bridge pup has been recabled but neck pup is untouched.

I had an Epi of the same vintage in the early 70s but definitely not an Embassy.  Same body and neck but single not TBird pup.  The body and bat headstock didn't do it for me so I quickly sold it for $75.

If this one was playable I'd leave it as is and gig it but it's gonna need major help.  It's very tempting to use the pups and bridge/tailpiece for another project.  The pots say '66 and the serial is 0010xx.  I'll post pix tomorrow

Paid 10% less than asking price with a Fender case.

The Good

The Bad.  Repair is delaminated under nut towards bridge so truss rod doesn't truss.

The Ugly.  Buggered truss rod end and flathead screws.

Very funky pot and a Carter jack.  .047 cap.  It all seems to function but wiring is weird and no ground to bridge that I've found yet.  Needs frets.

Good score!  This just gives you something to do with your time! ;D  Take lots of pictures as I think this will be a good one.
