I'll say that I consider the guage thing to be patently stupid but it not my body and people have rights.  But, I'm surprised that, in this sue happy climate, a college instructor would be dumb enough to rag on somebody for something like that - must of been tenured or at least buddies with the president of the college ???

Amen.  That idiot instructor is asking for trouble.

Not that I think gauging is attractive, wise, or any other positive adjective I can think of.

My instructor just was just sure to point out that it is frowned upon and that he should reconsider. The guy is a professional artist that teaches part time at my school and full time at The Art Institute. Definitely someone that knows what he is talking about and isn't afraid to fail a student.

He did get in trouble one time at the other school that now has him watching what he says a bit. I guess one student felt she was better than everyone else and didn't do the assignment as she was supposed to and my teacher said to the class something like: "What do you get when you polish a turd? A shiny piece of turd." Students mom complained that he was calling her daughters work shit.

It comes down to the fact that he is one of the teachers at my school who takes things seriously when preparing students for the real world of design.
There are many in this world that call me Darrol, feel free to be apart of that group.

There's nothing like tough love ;D  Artwork is subjective and if you are an artist you are going to hear some things about your work that are not flattering.

Now I see. Horses for courses. If you like to do that to your body and your partner likes you that way who am I to criticize? We all remember the tatooed Indian (read: Native American) in the Moby Dick movie, he had a job too and be it as a whaler. The young people pictured here probably all have jobs in some fetish industry branch/offspring. I assume that if you pay that much attention and care to looking like you do, you probably also have some characteristics/traits that make you suitable for a workplace.

Liberal outburst over.

There's no need now, she used to be across the road from the excellent "Live Music" guitar shop, but it's now moved back into it's old shop on West Crosscauseway, around the corner from Scayles in Patrick Sq, Clerk St.

Ever been drinking in the "Diggers"...? (Academic Arms) don't even know if it's still there - promptest service I've ever known in any pub, bar-none (no pun intended) - "5" bars but it was all in the round, so to speak, iirc...

Oh yeah, loads of times - used to meet up with a workmate from the area - which is a bit dodgy now.
The pubs so called because it's in the dead-centre of Edinburgh  ;) and either used to be the local for the grave-diggers or maybe was "The Gravediggers Arms" at one time.

It's not far from the Fountain Bar which is run by an ex of mine - the lovely Heather.
