I have 2 Korean ones, which, oddly enough, I don't even play anymore (been playing the Alvarez 6 string)...but...

They are both great basses...only basses I have ever bought that were ready-to-play out of the box...I take that back, I had a Japanese Fender Precision from the first Japanese Fender run that was ready to play out of the box...

that sounds like a great deal, almost too great. the peavey micro bass amp (newest and last model offered) is almost worth buying the bass to get. the seller sounds like a dick, however.

Just FYI if anyone is near Atlanta and are jonesing for the Dano Longhorn ($140 w/ gig bag):
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/msg/2046969525.html

I'd contact the guy if he'd ship it.

Ask him if its still available first  ;D

I know a guy here that has a Jerry Jones longhorn and I must say it sounds very sweet!  Hearing his got me jonesing for one briefly, but I never acted on it.

Good deals come up every now and then.  There was a copper JJ on TB for $500 shipped not long ago...

So, all this brings to mind a question I've been meaning to ask.
Are the Korean-made Danos much higher quality than the Chinese ones? I've heard contradictory things about Korean models, but I KNOW my Chinese '63 RI is about as cheap as you can get. I put a new neck on it to replace the poorly fretted original and just hanging on the wall the new neck warped. Don't know yet if it's saveable.

I have 2 korean ones and have had none of the issues the chinese bases have had.  everything fine 12+ years later although they seldom see the sunlight except for a dc model   ( think early jimmy page but a bass)   Supposedly the chines basses had better pickups but i also have a 63 and they are maybe a little hotter thats about it.  the korean basses mostly have the wood block bridge versus the indidual strings so some folks have had problems with them if you adjust the action without loosning the strings..

The Jerry Jones Longhorn?

Yes indeed! After talking to a buddy who has a JJ shorthorn, reading a bunch of reviews, and mulling it over for several days, I decided I'd like to try it. For the price, I figured it was a no-lose proposition.

Funny, of all the reviews I found on the JJ Longhorns, the only category which didn't get tons of stars was customer service: because no one's ever needed them!!!
