it's called an Epiphone scroll body.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen one of those.  Is it a vintage guitar?

Both are nice but I'm in the A camp. 

Depending on how deep you set the neck and if you use ultralite tuners neck dive may be not be a problem.

I do like the idea of a cottage industry for retirement as well.  By the time I retire you a Carlo should have the business model fine tuned for me

these were made by Matsumoku (Japan) for Epiphone 76-79 under the model SC350, SC450 and SC500 and appear to be a variation of the LP 59 double cut style body. both styles bolt on and set neck were made.

i have asked a guy that has one for sale to try and make me a body tracing before he sells his.

i don't want to hijack your thread but i am a big fan of the double cut style and after seeing your designs i thought you might be interested in a little FWIW.

Well, all you guys can rest assured that I will be making both the A and B models.  How about a name for each of them?

I'm also trying to design a headstock.  I can't decide on 4 in-line or 2+2.  I rather like the 2+2 design.  I'm thinking of a standard headstock for my basses, one I will use for all of them.

I see.  It reminds me of the Dean Rhapsody bass now that I look at it again.  I can't decide if I like it or not!  I've never been one for ornate designs on guitars.  I'm really drawn to the retro, simple lines.

I like both body designs, and think "B" would look best with a 4 in line headstock while "A" would look best with a 2 on a side headstock that mimics the body shape, if you can keep it from looking too 4001ish.

Yeah, I hear ya.  Maybe 2 headstock designs are in order.  Either way, I do like the simplicity of the 3000 series like I used on my 4005 clone.  I'll have to do some experimenting.
