This is not a slam on Roman but he's a busy guy... I recommend ordering through Rob.

You won't pay any more doing it that way and you'll have a responsive seller who's a little more geared toward international (especially U.S. based) sales. I'm pretty sure you can order any Bach product through him.

I certainly do not want to hijack the thread, but I've never heard of BaCH basses before...
I went on their site and they certainly have some great looking basses.
I'm a little disappointed that the BACH FT-1 DHB did not show the headstock.

Just curious. What's the general consensus on them?

Rob (bassvarken) was the driving force behind the TH-1 and TH-2. The concept was to build a Nonreverse Thunderbird at a affordable price that could be modded and up graded by the buyer. Rob did a fantastic job in getting Bach to make these. I have two of these basses and they compare very well against y original Gibson NRs. I say buy one you can't go wrong. My two with pickguards I make, the Cherry one has a Seymour Duncan custom shop Thunderbird pickup in a '76 cover. The black bass has the original Bach Artec pickup which sounds just fine.

I can't give enough praise to Rob for his fantastic efforts in bringing the BaCH Thunderbirds and now Fenderbirds into being, I have two and love them! You'll find it far easier to order one thru Rob's numberoneguitars than dealing with Bach directly, Rob takes Paypal and can communicate with Bach and you far batter than Roman at Bach ( no jibe at Roman, he is busy and in all fairness his english exceeds my Czech!) plus he'll inspect the bass before it ships to you - all good  :)

got mine thru Rob.  It is the way to go.  he inspects the basses before he ships to you and he has rejected several so the system works.  not sure what he is making on each bass but well worth it IMHO.  got my Th-1 thru him. Plus he takes paypal versus a bank check....
I have changed out the pup to a lull,  upgraded pots  and put real strings on it,  little tweak here and there and it is awesome ....standard pups are pretty good artecs but the lulls are incredible.

think about their case.  I was lucky to find a case on ebay that worked out well but bass is about 48 inches long so finding a case will be a problem...check the threads here about the case finding problems..

for whatever it is worth shipping to the US was 136 euros  and then later on a mystery duty charge of about $70 US shows up....
not sure you have to worry about that....

Thanx for your support guys.

@ Ronn: you can send me a PM or email if you'd like to order through me

Last summer I've had to switch shipping company.
The one that I had been working with didn't handle my shipping with the care that I need for basses and guitars.
It gave me a few severe headaches when basses arrived with snapped necks / dents.
Exit DPD.

So now I'm working with UPS.
They are only a fraction more expensive, but offer much better care/safety.
Shipping from NL to USA is 178 Euro (248 USD) for a TH or FT bass.

Oh and I still have the Lefty Fenderbird... ;)

Love it .  I only have the "TH-1" as a point of reference, but it was damn good right out of the box.  Good enough that it made me want to invest the time and effort to personalize it a bit-

Its a sweet player, and it feels and sounds undeniably thunderbird (even with the stock Artec pickup and maple content).

I got mine direct from Roman and paid by wire transfer.  No troubles at all, but had Rob been offering his services at the time I'd have gone that route...

I was in on the original bunch.  It was well worth the wait.  The stock bass, right out of the box, was an outstanding bass for the money.  There was really nothing wrong with the bass the way it came.  The mods I made didn't make drastic changes to it.  They were pretty subtle.  I sold mine only after I got my Embassy back.  I got the white one, which was a great clone of the Gibson I had years ago.  It's definitely a conversation bass, and a better bass for the money than a lot of others.

I just got back from gigging with my Bach for 4 hours. I love that bass, but I have a backache. If it were a pound and a half lighter I would love it even more.

Another advantage to ordering thruogh Rob is he takes PayPal. Bach will only accept a wire transfer and that with fees for converting to euros cost me $75 and $63 at two different banks, at two different times.

I call dids on Chromium's bird if he ever decides to sell it. ;D

Hey, Chromium, that pickup cover you've got, is that from a Jazz? Looks really nice.
