The one I have here is also equipped with the Might Mite pickups.

The split P is the only fairly usable pickup IMHO. The bridge Jazz pickup is very thin sounding and the middle setting with both pickups is dominated by that bridge pickup. So that is a no go either.

Must be the Hiwatts that make it sound  good ;)

The trick is to use Ronson lighter fluid. The flame won't follow the stream backward into your mouth and you get a nice flame out of it. If you do swallow a little of it it'll taste bad but won't kill you. Well, I'm still here so it never did me. Brain damage may be another question though...

The other secret is to SPRAY the fluid out of your mouth, not spit it.  Ronson also tastes much better than Bacardi 151, which is what I used the first time I tried it.  I did my whole band as KISS one year, and learned the fire-breathing for that.  I practiced using water in the shower to get the technique down before the real thing.
The other thing in doing Simmons is to be sure and tuck the bass in your crotch, and then strut slightly bow-legged across the stage.

And you guys thought YOU were shameless...

Sounds like a typical weekend for me!  ;D

Strings and setup make a big difference in almost any bass IMHO.

I did give the bass a good set up, didn't need much really, little less relief in the neck, tweak the intonation and saddle heights to my liking. I left the stock strings on, they are very brash, at some point I'll put on a set of Rotos.
