Anyway, so when can we expect the new stage shot of you in (extreme stack) boots and black leathers, maybe a little makeup...? ;)

(heading for shelter)

Back to reality... have you run the beast up with "The Rig" (tm) yet...? iirc you do some Kiss covers...?

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

I think for a larf I am going to use it for the KISS tuns on Halloween, other than that it will be hanging on the wall in my bass room

With just a hint of mascara...? I'm sure Mark will be willing to offer some advice... ;D

Definitely gotta post pics of that one...

I saw one of those too and played it unplagged - not crap. I was slightly tempted, especially as Edith tempted that "it will go together with the other one (meaning my Punisher), aren't you a completist?". Hmmm, I still have a bass at repair at that shop, possibly when I pick it up ...

I'd play it unashamedly just for the heck of it, I play Flying Vs so I'm shameless. And I've said this often before: As hard rock bass players go, Gene is at least in the upper half if not the upper third.

How's the fire-breathing and blood-spitting practice doing, Scott?

Fire breathing scares me to death! Blood spitting ? I faint at the sight of it  :-[ Again for the $ I am very impressed with this bass and as a young lad I loved KISS. I am happy to have it in the collection. As a youngster I used  the GOT persona to get my ass onstage, I was very shy. Not that I used makeup etc. it was just a little alter ego thing so it wasn't just Scott getting up there. Gene is a far better bassist than most give him credit for. There are bassists that rate higher on my list than Gene but he is on my list as a big influence.

The trick is to use Ronson lighter fluid. The flame won't follow the stream backward into your mouth and you get a nice flame out of it. If you do swallow a little of it it'll taste bad but won't kill you. Well, I'm still here so it never did me. Brain damage may be another question though...

George, is that you expressing your feelings when you heard that Bill Clinton had won against Bush senior?  8)

More like what I hoped Reagan would do to Jimmy Carter once he won the nomination. It's an old shot...

Just don't try this again on law school campus, will ya? Keep those utensils safely locked away together with your dress.

it sounds really good even with the Mighty Mite pickups. The neck also has a nice full profile without being to beefy.

You gotta be kidding Scott!

I have one here for review now.
Neck is very wide and thick. That in combination with a severe neck dive makes this bass almost unplayable.
The pickups lack any form of authority and/or personality.
This bass can't keep up in a rock band. No matter how you dial your full tube amp.

IMHO of course...

Given the variation I've seen among import basses in other brands, it's entirely possible you are both correct in your observations.

The neck dive is extreme no question. I used this at our Halloween gig for the Kiss tunes and it sounded great, loud ballsy, very aggressive. It really kicked ass. I was more than impressed with the playability and sound. I really like the neck very Gibson in profile. I never even rehearsed with the bass just took it up in front of 4,000 plus people  :o Risky but the bass didn't let me down. Video coming.

In that case the Indonesean that built the Axe that I tested must have had an off day...

Or maybe yours has different pickups?
