Cool gig.  Make those assless chaps white for a fashion statement...

ROFL!  ;)
Resident T Bird playing Drag Queen www.thenastyhabits.com  "Impülsivê", the new lush fragrance as worn by the unbelievable Fräulein Rômmélle! Traces of black patent leather, Panzer grease, mahogany and model train oil mingle and combust to one sheer sensation ...

You don't need nice legs for assless chaps.....................you need...... ;)

Ah... well, er... Jackie said that that was the first thing she noticed about me...  (some would say it's my best feature, but I don't think they were being complimentary)
But I just ain't gonna wax, Lady V, I just ain't gonna wax... ;D

Chaps (and ladies)... thanks again... (maybe I could suggest covering Aerosmith's Back In The Saddle Again...)

They appear to be a nice easy going bunch and they have a professional attitude towards quality, which I appreciate... the stuff that was being played at the O/M varied from country and cajun to quite rocky, a bit of folk and a lot of blues...

Sounds like quite an eclectic mix.

But who could see them then? There are lots of places in old Blimey where the sun doesn't shine.

Just a note (a blue one, or maybe two)

Like all things, much is subject to change...

Well, our rhythm guitarist (guy that runs the open mic) had a bad turn last week and we were not sure what was happening, also the regular drummer is away on urgent business so there is another dep in, so I have a scenario where a drummer and a bassist that have never worked together will be playing a bunch of tunes none may have played before, for the whole evening... :o

Anyway, the (still as yet un-named) band will be playing James McMurtry's "Charlemaignes Home Town", Van Morrison's "Just Like Greta", and if time prevails, Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb", and I'll be playing whatever else is thrown at me...

Yeah that kinda sounds like fun. Love the fact you are doing a James McMurtry song. That guy knows how to groove and tell a good story. Laconic is the word I would use.  ;D

Might have learned how to tell a good story from his dad, Larry, who wrote Lonesome Dove and The Last Picture Show among other things.

Kenny, Hi.

Spotted this - out on the road again - congratulations. :)

Take a tip from me.
If you are doing an open mic, with a guitarist who knows the tunes
(assuming he/she is right handed) always stand to the right, with
the guitarist on the left. That way you can see what is going on.  ;D
The other way round, you may as well wear a blindfold!!

Get out there lad!! ;D
Now a little more wiser. . . . .

Well, wouldn't ya know... stage left... ;D

Yep I'm up for this one so I'll give you a report post train-wreck...

My Peter Cook 'Bird rose out of the ashes (even though I still haven't sorted out the volume issues) and what a great sound through a borrowed rig...

L-R Mark (lead), dep drummer Mike, Chris (vox), moi, Geoff (rhythm/keys/slide) runs the gig

Well, I didn't need to bring the Hiwatt or the Marshall with me as another player wanted to bring his rig down - an (something with 600 in the title) Eden amp with an Eden 18" cab and an Eden 2x10 - ABSOLUTE MONSTER SOUND (in a pub...!?) - Gotta admit, the rig produced an absolutely beautiful sound, especially when I let the Mud loose...

Anyway, it turned out to have been a quiet night musician wise (last time there had been about 7 or 8 different acts/players playing a couple of numbers each). This time there were three distinct "bands" with a common drummer - the chap that owned the rig used a fretless Warwick Thumb and the other guy used an Alembic Essence (I think)...

We ended up playing seven (ish) numbers in total - first section with James McMurty's Charlagmagne's Home Town, Van Morrison's Just Like Greta finishing with Pink Floyds Comfortably Numb (all played with a balance on the MB and the RD pups), the second section was Boz Scagg's Some Change (RD pup) and Cream's Sunshine (Mudbucker in full flow) and three of us were involved in a jam (full bore MB) starting on Superstition (BBA style - instrumental) which wandered into Sympathy For The Devil to end the night... a thoroughly enjoyable night... with some very complimentary comments... The last three numbers we had not rehearsed and none of them I'd ever played in a band situation before... FUN!
