Damn, I've gone and done it now... :o

Had an audition a few weeks back but it felt too political (existing (outgoing, not) bassist playing in too many bands for the primaries desires)...

Had an out-of-the-blue on Thursday so replied with a query which resulted in a phone call on Friday with learn a set list and one thing led to another...

Sunday, I went to an open-mic (Station Hotel, South Nutfield, Surrey for thos in the UK) ran by one of the guitarists in the band (along with their drummer and amicably outgoing jazz influenced bassist) - I had been forewarned what to expect so went down with the Jazz bass... played three numbers... a Boz Scaggs number called Some Change, While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Jeff Healey style) in the middle of the evening and a blues cover, Need Your Love So Bad (F Mac covered it) to finish the night...

Went very well... got invited to join on the spot, and with the bassist going on holiday for the next on (2nd Sunday of Sept) got asked if I'd like to do the next one as resident...

Oh well... in for a penny...

Anyway... they meet up most Mondays so I went down with the Peter Cook ("That was made for someone special" was Mark the lead's comment on stroking the lining of the case... ;D) and played for about 2-3 hours... great fun... 8)

Anyone else ever done this sort of thing...?

(PS...I'm now under pressure to get the RD back up-and-running as they'ld love to hear the fretless... :o ;D)

Now you just need some assless chaps to complete your stage ensemble.  ;)

And as for Uwe... the crisis goes from bad to worse... I reckon it's sporosis... (I thought he was supposed to be a calming influence, a kindly but authoritarian figure, teaching me the errors of my ways with my instruments... oh well... ;D)

... and as for the rest of you shameless chaps... (thanks for the wishes)

Awesome Kenny! No point in buying all those basses and not having a use for them ;)

Congrats Ken, these guys obviously like what they are hearing so you go in knowing that you are at least appreciated. A good way to be.
Enjoy mate.
