I think you made a good choice, Salty! It's stuffed good, there's several pockets in the bag, room for everything connected to the Bachbird. Plus I can carry it on my back, like a rucksack. Though, when I do, the package so long I have to duck when passing a doorway. Makes me feel like Groucho Marx!

I just grabbed a CTS 500K pot off Ebay for $8.50 delivered.

If I do decide to go for a TH-2, I think I'll be very tempted to do the push-pull conversion.

I think I've decided what I'm doing...

Has anyone replaced the plastic nut on their Bachbird? Do you think this makes much of a difference?

Rob, on the push/pulls, do I want short shaft or long shaft? Also, what value for the tone, and what caps are everyone using? What was the original value on the NR birds for the cap, 0.47?

I haven't really noticed anything wrong with the timbre of the strings.  Aside from putting a set of Roto RB-40's on, and dropping an old Gibson pickup in it, I'm pretty happy.  And, as has been noted several times, the bass was perfectly good right out of the box.  The changes I did made subtle changes, not drastic ones.

I have been looking over my new bird, the grain in the body is spectacular lots of ribbon especialy the back, I think the body is one piece  :o Oh never mind I took a closer look, three pieces, still purtty  :)

Mine has a seam. But it was very hard to find, almost impossible on the face. I've certainly owned much more expensive basses with less regard to grain matching. I also can't get over the perfect action right out of the box. No adjustment necessary on mine. Nice and slinky.

I barely had to even tune mine! The ear on the G-tuner seems a little loose though.

Here is my upgraded Bachbird, with chrome cover (original Artec inside), replaced knobs, push-pull pot, bird decal and thunbrest. And finally the truss rod hole cover.

I did get a case with my TH-2. I really like it, the croc skin pattern is cool. The center latch is a little wierd though. You have to lift the handle to open or close the latch.

It shows in this picture:

Could you elaborate a little? What value pots, what value cap, and most importantly how did it affect the tone?

Thanks!
