SG on the 'Bay...
« on: July 29, 2010, 09:23:01 AM »
If I still played, I'd BIN and risk a week of grovelling to the wife....this seems to be a really good price IIRC:

Too true. The best EB-3 (that wasn't) ever.

May be a good deal, I wouldn't bid without more information. Is it new or lightly used? Low feedback seller can't make up his mind. Hard to tell from two poorly lit photos what the real condition is. I wonder if this is a standard SG Bass or a Faded series (much less expensive) with flash glare that makes it look like the gloss finish.

Must be a gloss. The color is too bright to be a worn faded one.

Visually, it looks like the more expensive gloss one and in pretty good condition.  But I'd want more pics of course...I don't know why sellers don't take items outside to get better pics.

If it's a Faded then the price is nothing to write home about. I can't make up my mind either. Lack of block inlays would indicate a faded among today's models, but when the SG Standard was still called SG RI, all the gloss models only featured dot inlays too. The GoW Supremes were the first to have block inlays and that crept eventually over into the regular SG Bass models (except for the Faded models). I have a hunch it's a gloss though.

Right, the dots and the poor pics raised the question, but it could just be an earlier regular model.

I'm safe.  I already learned that I don't like the balance of an SG-body and 34" neck.  No temptation here.

Soundwise the SG is a totally diffrent animal than the ol' SG-bodied EB's. Still not tempted ?

If i were gonna do that, I'd have hung onto the EPI EB-0 and added a pickup as planned.  But it's headed across the ocean....

That's a gloss finished one, $650 is a good deal. I must behave myself at the moment.
