I finally finished my first bass....and it works. I tried it this morning on my Marshall JMP and it sounds great.
The body is Mahogany (from my parents old table....aged 20 years in a smokers living room...  ;D);
Squier II P bass neck;
Dimarzio Model G humbucker;
Volume control and 3 way Parallel/Single/Serie toggle switch.
I've downsized the body a little to have a smaller and less heavy bass than my 78 P bass.
I must say that the best sound is in the single and parallel position, but must check it with the band to see how it works in the mix.
Next project will be a lefty les paul bass with the Tbird pickups i've got from Scott. I'd like to make it a 32" scale but are having a hard time finding a neck...If anybody has one, let me know.

The graphic artwork is handpainted by my 4 years old son and 1 1/2 year old daughter....just like the kitchen wall behind...I love it.

LIFE Is all about ass. You're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, or trying to get a piece of it.

Thanks mate, beside the fact that i build it my self (eccept the neck) it's got a great value for me due to the kids paint job, i'll probably make them do a "foot work" on the next  ;D

P.S. can somebody please explain me how to load pics from Photobucket...?

Nocturnal

Great job! I love the kids artwork too. Makes it more specail.

Wonderful! Love the kids design. Love the reverse headstock.

I'm pretty sure Scott will approve too  ;)

Great work! That's a great paint job on both the wall and the bass.

Cool Bass, fantastic finish job, hope you paid them well!  Got any pix of the build?

While I've never really been too hip to the Fenderbird, I've always loved this bass, with either Fender or Gibson necks, and I think this thread has finally pushed me enuff to make me a lefty version.

Dadagoboi; No, dammit, it's the first project i finish (sold the parts of the previous...) and didn't take pics during the work in progress....i'd have loved to have them now it's done.

what the heck is that? never saw it before

I think it's possibly a precursor to the Fenderbird, could be wrong, originally had a Fender Jazz neck but can be seen later in the "Tommy" movie with a Gibson Thunderbird neck, anyway, first time I saw it was when the "Tommy" movie was released in the mid 70s and I thought it was the coolest looking bass ever.

I have an odd idea that these were built by Peter Cook, too, but not 100% sure...

As for that Fenderbird... A W E S O M E...!!!

All right! Congrats on your first build! I bet you are already in eager anticipation to build the next one  :mrgreen:

It almost fades and desappear into the kitchen wall, kinda like the Pink Panther on that episode where he/she closes his/her eyes in front of the pink refrigerator...  ;D

PS: here in Brazil the Pink Panther has always been reffered as a she.
