Btw way the color options Trish the Gibson rep. liked were tobacco sunburst and vintage white, I would be happy with either.  :)

Not me. If given those two choices I would choose sunburst. I would really prefer Pehlam Blue or Cardinal Red.  I would think they could do it any color you want, it is the Custom Shop after all.

She also told us the CS hates building TBs and Firebirds because of the neck thru design, wings, laminate necks, etc.  They just don't like all the work it entails.

Maybe they'll want to release these with a "worn" of "faded" finish. It takes time and work to apply the glossy  Nitro clear coat too... ;)

I am guessing but past sales have indicated that tobacco sunburst and vintage white have always been solid sellers. We can talk custom colors all we want but those at the top want to make sure they can be sold.

Those at the top can be sure they will sell one to me if it's Pehlam Blue.

You can always get Pelham Blue if they're doing a one-off CS job for you, but as The Mighty Favog sez, "it's gonna cost ya." To bring the cost down a bit for a run of 25, they will want to go with what they can get the dealers to buy. All you have to do now is convince the House of Guitars and whichever other store they have in mind that 25 Pelham Blue NRs will sell.

Believe me Dave PB was the first of my choices, Trish the Gibson rep didn't seem to like that idea to much. I think they are going to play it safe. Bill's voice and mine will only go so far. I am far more concerned in them getting the build right than the color.

I just love reading that the Gibson rep, "didn't seem to like that idea too much", regarding color options.
I'm sure if a Gibson rep spent only one afternoon visiting the major guitar & bass message boards online they would realize what would sell.
I guess these are the same experts that think 30 variations of the Les Paul will be bought up left and right.  ???
...Sad!

...And I'm still shocked at the idea that they will build this TBird.
As much as I would LOVE to see it, and maybe buy one, I just can't see them making it look retro with the bigger headstock and chrome/nickel hardwear.

...However, I will still hold onto this dream.

What was the reps thought concerning nickel/chrome pickups, two piece bridge and proper tuners?

The pickup covers could be a major fly in the ointment as the tooling would costlty.

The whole lot of them should be sent to the Rickenbacker bass penal colony!

Yeah, that'll teach them a lesson on neck-thru's!

You're right, but they seem to be able to get them done when they want to. They've popped up on various projects over the years. They could source them from wherever Orville/Epi Japan or Greco got theirs...

Bill and I talked at length about getting it built right, reverse vintage tuners, two piece bridge etc. The pickup is going to be tough I expect they will equip it with TB plus units but again I don't really know what they are going to do, this seemed to be a fact finding meeting for Gibson. The Gibson rep was kinda excited about a relic version, my feeling on that is the cost of the relic-ing will drive the final cost out of reach of their market. There are going to be lots of people involved and I doubt Gibson will be defering to Bill and I for the final say on anything.

Both basses we brought in had Bill's tail piece and my bridge.................................she took a interest and asked if I have 25 available, I don't, I would have to get them made up.
