 I like EMG's, even Active ones. But there is no way in a pink fit I would ever take out the original Humbucker pups from a LP Recording bass and replace them with active EMG's. What the?

I'm sure it does sound  "Good" John but really wouldn't you buy one of those basses because they are what they are (was) and they sound like they sound? They certainly have a distinctive sound IMHO. I dont get why anyone would mod one of these basses by putting EMG's in it.

I don't know, looks like a typical flame job to me, nothing unusual. Still, there's no reason I can think of to pay for what this bass used to be and isn't anymore.

no problem modding your instrument but one shouldn't expect others to be enthusiastic about the changes.  once those kinds of changes have been made, one should think of the bass as a keeper.  at least I would.

It's so radical a conversion it defies criticism. But the original bridge now looks out of place. That should have been replaced too.

I guess on a maho short scale,  active emgs can elicit a punchy sound without becoming too sterile. Not that the original pups of a Triumph or Recording are in any way muffled.
