I really hope you get them, you won't believe the difference!!!
They are slightly hotter than mine, they read 9,6k, not biggie, typical gibson QC I guess! :P

Good luck!! I picked up a set from a guy over at TB and they measure out about like the one's at auction, maybe a little less. I routed the cavities yesterday, now I need to get started on the paint!

By the way, as for routing an Epi for these pups, been there and done that. If you have one of those Sunburst models, you gotta be careful as there is a Mahogany veneer over whatever wood they use. And that veneer likes to chip, so you gotta take your time while routing to get it done cleanly.

+1! Also, after you do that, its a good idea to paint the cavities black again, as Epi does. This way you can hide the small imperfections in routing nicely.

The veneer is on the Goth as well. They must use that for all of the center sections on the Birds. It's a light colored wood, unlike the rest of the cavity. I had black, tan, and red-ish sawdust come out of it! I was gonna hit the whole thing again with black primer anyhow. I've done a lot of patching on this one.

At least with the Goth you can easily patch it with black paint, with the sunburst it would be a more difficult task. I also learned that the neck pocket will not fit a Fender-sized neck either without some widening. I turned my Epi into a Fenderbird, then soon parted it out and sold it. I bought my first Gibson about a year and a half later and never looked back. I just couldn't take to the "p-bass shaped like a bird" approach to the Epiphone version. Then again, maybe had I gotten a goth bird, aren't those actually mahogany bodied?

Good points! Both my Epis are the darker bursts and I figure to try this on the one I got for $85. I was thinking that, prior to routing, I'd cover the body with some sort of contact paper or some heavy tape. Wood veneer won't split or split quite so easily if it's held down or clamped between a couple of other pieces.

It would be cool to find some black trim rings in the same style as those '70s chrome ones.

Some kind of mahogany. I'm sure it's nothing like the maho used in the Gibson    I'm leaving the original neck for now. I kinda like it and it feels broken in. I got the bass for $70 with the input yanked thru the front. Perfect project!!

BTW, does anyone remember which pickup is neck & bridge?? I think the red wire was neck and black for bridge. I put masking tape on them to mark them and forgot to mark them!  ???

I still have a pair of Epi pups too if anyone wants them, I'll have to check and see if I marked mine!

Hey Denis I just found those, they seem like the epis but they have less lower DC resistance (almost like gibsons), I sent them a message about them, lets hope someone sells them for cheap! :D

Didn't get the others but I'm watching these as well for the BaCHbird. They were up the other day for $150 with no takers, now $100.

I stole them, paid a little much, but at least I'll get decent pots out of the deal. Had I not needed them immediately, I would have left it for Denis. Sorry bud! I hope you get these, since they're cheaper so far.
