I was lucky enough to catch Ian Hunter last night in Chicago and he (and his band) rocked. Great show. He's touring the midwest and northeast this fall.

I saw Mott in '74, and they were one of the best shows I ever saw, even if it was a mere hour long.  I loved most of his solo work, but just couldn't connect with Rant.  The live "Standing in the Light" with Mick Ronson is a cool CD, though.  Dan Buck posted a shot of Ian and him on FB today.  Hunter is 72 now.

My oldest brother got me hooked on 'em back in the '70's.
To me, "The Hoople" is one of the greatest albums ever.

I agree that most of Hunter's solo stuff is very good -  Schiophrenic & Short Back 'n Sides had some great stuff on them.
...and All American Alien Boy is still on my list of favorite songs of all time - some pretty wicked bass.

Last time I saw him was at the Hammy O' with Mr Ronson... enjoy...

Yeah, and he does a guitar solo on the record somewhere, too.  You'll probably all banish me, but this was my least favorite Hunter album.  It lacked feeling to me, and sounded like he just wanted the best musicians around at the time.  I liked Jaco with Wayne Cochran, but I've yet to understand the wanking that ended his career.

Spot on, in my estimation.  The song AAAB is certainly the highlight of that album, and the only thing Jaco ever did that I remotely liked.
