I agree with PBG but have to say that generally we use a splitter and take sound directly into a multitrack recording desk. We do both a live mix and the recorded mix simultaneously from the same mics. This gear is (relatively speaking) cheap and it gives you much more control over the recorded mix than a 2 track live mix would. This of course allows the replacement of bum notes on the source track but you still get the bum note from any mics close enough to pick up the spill of that bum note.
