Sarah graduated with a masters degree in December and this morning landed a job teaching at the school where she did student teaching while in school. She will be substituting for a woman going out on maternity leave and will be there from early/mid April through June. Sure, it's short term but she will get invaluable experience plus more to put on her resume. Whoo hoo!

Does this mean you'll be a "kept" man?   ;)

Haha, not really but it does mean she will be buying me sushi and hot sake in return for dinner LAST night. :)

Congrats to her. Short term is nothing to sneeze at, especially in this economy.

Congrats!  Yep, a job, even for a short while, is a good thing.  Who knows maybe the woman decides to stay home full time with the baby and your GF lands the slot full time ;D

Great news! Maybe now she can help pay for some more gear??

Uwe, that's awesome!

Thanks everyone! Sarah's just beside herself with relief and excitement, and like you guys said, getting any kind of job right now is something to be very thankful for, so she's definitely a step ahead for when things really pick up. She's hoping, and her mentor at the college from which she graduated, said there is a real possibility that the preggers teacher may decide to stay home. Let's hope!
Once again, thanks all!

Saving state money on education is the epitome of pennywise and poundfoolish. Lots of countries (Germany included) do it and they'll all pay the price.

Congrats to her- great accomplishment and a noble career.  I go volunteer at my sons school quite a bit, and despite the budget challenges the staff there never fails to impress me.  They go so far out of their way (and their own pockets) to give the kids a good environment.  We're very grateful for them, and try to help out there as much as we can.

What grade will she be teaching?

On a more serious note, this sounds like a good time to warm her up to the idea of a '73 4001!
