I did notice the 60 cycle hum today when the darn thing would even tune when I stood directly before my Ampeg SVT! Before that I had noticed that it was noisy under some conditions, but never gave it much thought. Maybe the wiring is not quite alright I thought.

Embrace the hum.

Become one with the hum.

Or wire up a dummy coil in the control cavity if you have enough room.

Gotta agree wid the Bro'... Occam's Razor applies perfectly here..............................

watching a bit too much "Star Trek TNG" are we?

"'Occam's Razor,' said Data.
The Vulcan raised an eyebrow. 'Sutak's Fifth Principle.'

'Beethoven's Ninth,' I chimed in, but no one found it amusing. "  ;) ;)

I prefer Arkham's Razor: A theory which suggests that the simplest explanation tends to lead to Cthulhu.

The weird thing is, I heard about it via Will Wheaton's Twitter account...

At age 12 I both read Lovecraft for the first time and listened to Frank Zappa for the first time - Live at the Fillmore no less! Explains a lot now that I think of it...

When I was twelve I would giggle with my friends while listening to "Titties and Beer".

IIRC William of Ockham (sp.?) predated Star Trek by a few centuries.

I believe that Heinlein was also a proponent of Occam's (Ockham's) Razor in his stories.  And it's easy to think it was the source or inspiration for Conan Doyle's well-known Holmes quotation “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

"A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila."
