DISCLAIMER:I'm doing this to help out Glenn Cronkhite after he and "The Dude" had differences of opinion. I'm not gaining anything from this venture, but I thought that maybe you guys would be interested in these straps.

Now that that is out of the way:

I'm trying to help Glenn Cronkhite sell the rest of his "S" Shaped straps to us Gibson-ites who might want them.

I had originally bought one of his straps from "The Dude" after he had Glenn custom make them for VBTC. I love it to death and I get ZERO neck dive from any of my birds.

Here's a pic of the strap, I promise to put up more:

After I gained another bird to my flock, I decided I wanted another one and was able to do some detective work finding Glenn as the original creator. I emailed him to see if he still had the pattern, and came to find out he's got about 10 of these made. So I thought I'd share this with our group of guys (and gals) here.

I believe Glenn quoted me $34.00 plus actual shipping charges.

If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll send you Glenn's email address.

EDIT:
Glenn said he's busy right now, but will get back to me with all of the details of the strap (material, length, etc). He said it would not be possible to add any padding to the strap because of the shape.

Here are two live shots, notice the slight bend of the strap:

What is the maximum length of the strap, eye to eye?

bassvirtuoso

Just emailed Glenn, I'll post his results when I get a reply. I'd measure mine, but I had it shortened and put Dunlop strap locks on it, so I don't want to take it all apart to check.

Could you also include some details about the strap..i.e. materials (leather, pvc etc), padding, colors, adjustability. Thanks.

bassvirtuoso

I'll get those deets too. I do know that the material is leather, but a special kind of leather that he can't use in his gig bags, so that's why I'm trying to help him out. The only color is black. I asked him about adding padding but haven't gotten a response back about that yet, otherwise it'll just be straight leather without padding like mine is.

I'm curious. Never seen them before. Do they make a difference? If they do, I'm in for two. (How that even rhymes!)

You're curious and you may be in for two. Does that make you bi-curious?

Are you trying to tell me something here? I must say that for the bi-curios, this forum offers a wealth of information already!

I guess that depends on how you intend to use the strap.

To be honest, I'm not sure if there's a huge difference. I've only used this strap on my Thunderbirds since I've had them. I've never had the "neck dive" problem with my 'birds. I originally bought it back in the day to help with my Epiphone T-bird, and it made a difference on that bass. I'll get out another strap tonight and test it side by side.

EDIT:

Ok, I took pics of the straps together:

And just the "S" alone:

I tried on all three straps and couldn't tell much difference. I'm not sure if that's because my 'bird is lightweight (it weighs a little under 9 lbs), or if because the other straps are wide leather straps. The Cronkhite "feels" better, but I guess I'm just used to using it too.

It looks just like my Fretsling strap.  I highly recommend this type of strap for neck divers.  I just might have to get another one at this price.

JZumbro

I would be interested in one of these.

Everyone get their straps, and are we happy with them?
