2010 Movies
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:39:07 PM »
Got tix to see Alice In Wonderland at the Disney showcase theater-El Capitan- which opened in 1925 & was beautifully renovated in the '90s.
Gonna take a girlfriend to the March 5th Thurs. Midnight show & then take my daughter Tanya to the Sat. Midnight show opening weekend!!
She'll be visiting the Southland from Sacramento that weekend & hopefully we'll see some real stars on Hollywood Blvd. cuz the Academy Awards are that night too!!

Saw Crazy Heart yesterday which is considered a 2009 movie & it's pretty good.
I'm not wild about Country music but the songs in this flick aren't much different than Blues songs, really, they just have pedal steel & are sung with a twang. lol
Cool that Jeff Bridges got the Golden Globe award for Best Actor for his role in this as Bad Blake but I'm guessing Clooney will win the Oscar. We'll see!

How To Train Your Dragon looks like a fun animated flick which is also opening in March.
Clash of the Titans is another CGI fest opening in March....

Looking forward to Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness next week....

Saw a billboard already for a new TRON in 3D that's opening in Dec.!
Gonna be a good year for movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is also Iron Man 2 this spring and Kick-Ass at some point this year which has Nicholas Cage as one of the supporting characters. Cage also has The Sorcerer's Apprentice which looks pretty good and Season of the Witch so it is going to be a big year for him. Can't forget about Toy Story 3 this summer in IMAX 3D. A number of people around my age will be looking forward to Part 1 of the last Harry Potter movie. Tron Legacy does look good and I plan to see it even though I haven't seen the original and I don't know if I will. Going into visual effects has somewhat made it hard for me to watch visual effects heavy stuff from that far back.

It has been ages since I went to the El Capitan theater. I saw Hercules there when it came out as well as another movie that slips my mind a bit.

Always a pleasure to see Herr Rourke.

I forgot that Clash of the Titans comes out this weekend. Maybe I will go see it next week if I am not working. I do want to see How to Train Your Dragon also so I will probably go see that one afternoon in IMAX. I have found that I am better off not waiting around for my friends to go see movies these days and Friday afternoons are perfect for just relaxing and enjoying a movie as I found out when I saw Alice in Wonderland in IMAX last friday.

There was no Midnight show last night at the local theater complex.

How To Train your Dragon is better than expected. The trailer is cute, but it's really good--the characters are GREAT & the wide variety of types of dragons is amazing & amusing!!

Clash of the Titans tonight! ...or tomorrow. :D

Coming Soon:

The Expendables:

Kick Ass:

Man, you are one HARD-core movie fan!

I probably go to about three movies a year.  Used to do more, but just too busy anymore.

I have some free time in the morning so I am thinking of getting up earlier than normal and catching the first IMAX showing of How To Train Your Dragon. At some point I plan to go see Clash of the Titans with one of my friends, just not sure if it will be in 3D or not because 3D has been getting bad criticism.

Got to admit, we tend to wait for the DVD these days, unless it's something special...

We tend to do the same...but last weekend went to Shutter Island.

At the end of that movie, I thought Hitchcock would be proud of it!  Well done!

This one has got some excellent pre release reviews.  It's about the Australian engineer unit who were faced with the task of tunneling under German lines in WWI to blow the trenches up from underneath.
