Slave amps?
« on: January 14, 2010, 12:02:44 PM »
A while back someone posted a photo their rig and there was a Sunn amp and a couple of slaves underneath. Notwithstanding how that sentence reads, are the slaves simply to help provide more power or do they allow you to run a bunch more cabinets?

As slave amp, as I understand it, is basically a power amp to drive additional cabs, doesn't have a preamp.

Ah, so the amp plugs into one or more slaves, which in turn can handle several cabinets. Thanks for the explanation.

dc10bass has a Sunn setup like JE's back in the early 1970's.  It consists of Sunn Coliseum, Coliseum 880 and Coliseum Lead heads driving all of the cabs you see here.  I'd need roadies to play in his Who Tribute band!

Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.
