I like that. Those look like four Charlie Christian pickups which is what 60's Thunderbird pickups were based on (if I remember correctly). Zemaitis lives!

Was this originally a real Gibson?

Charlie Christian pickups aren't like the original T-birds. The Charlie Christian has a steel blade with the magnets beneath, same general principle as the current TB Plus. On the 60s T-birds the blades are magnets.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Dave.

It has a whole flock of chicken head knobs too  ;)

Hmm.... looks like a Les Panzer, it's bullet proof. Love the tune o' matic bridge

Kinda cool. It needs a flowery engraving though...

Cool! It was probably one of the last edition LP's with the faded concept finish and regular TB Plus pups. The metal front hides the old ABM bridge holes.

I like it ! I wonder how it sounds ?

Can't decide if I like it or not.  A little too much metal for me.

That means it has the bass pup a little closer to the neck than the previous LP basses had.

Was that an improvement in your opinion?

I think it looks better and should in theory bring more bass, but the last run faded don't offer any more bass than my first run passive three knob 1992 LPB-1 which has the bass pup further back. Perhaps when the last run model has similarly aged, it will sound bassier.
