Ampeg V2 4X12
« on: December 06, 2009, 07:47:59 PM »
I stopped in the local banjo center the other day and they had an Ampeg V2 cabinet in the bass room. I thought this was a guitar cabinet (though it looks like a short SVT cab). Has anyone used one of these for bass? If so, how does it sound? I'm wondering if it's worth checking out...

I have never used one but I bet it sounds something like a Marshall 4x12 loaded with bass drivers. I would probably like it.

That's what I'm thinking. I just don't want to buy it and then have to buy drivers as well. They already have it marked too high, so if I buy it it has to be ready to go right out the door.

4x12's work great for me for small-stage work, though one of these is well out of my range...

Factory speakers were either CTS or Eminence, with Altec 417s offered as an option. Keep in mind that the V2 head was a 60-watt unit.
