Pix from this weekend's gig
« on: November 16, 2009, 04:57:09 PM »
We played at a local music store that has a nice stage - drew a standing room only crowd.  I played my 'Indigo" Jazz bass while test-driving a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0/T12 combo, which impressed me very much.  You can just barely see it behind me, it's so small...

Fun gig, nice crowd, and a good time for all.  The guitarists both played black Gretsch guitars, so we were in a nice 60's mode.

And yes, our rhythm guitarist (striped shirt) is a BIG guy!

That bass looks good and it's definitely not purple, either in looks or in Fender's color chart.

Looks purple to me ;)  Purple is a combination of cyan and magenta - in various combinations.  This one might be a little heavy on cyan but it photograghs more purple than blue to me.  Take into account the amount, type and temperature of the lighting and the fact that no two people will ever see any color the same

As for Fender's color chart it would interesting to see if it's a Pantone color or something that they highjacked from the auto industry.

Besides what fun would it be to call it blue?! ???

I take comfort in the bottom photo - definitely looks blue to me.

That stage does have colored stage lights, so the color will shift a bit depending on where you're standing.

And it wasn't until I put up the photos that I realized the Genz-Benz bass amp is so small that you can barely see it behind me.  When was the last time you saw that the bass amp was the smallest one on stage??

OK, OK it's blue cough, cough  ;)

When the bass player figured out that the sore back and hernia weren't worth the pain?? ???

I'm all for smaller and lighter if the sound holds up.  Might not work for a very loud punk, rock or metal band but I can see it working in lot of situations.

 Definately a blue bass  ;)

What you need is something in Crimson with a bit of silver trim

AMEN!  I just left a note with the music store that I want the Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 and TWO of the T12 speakers.  I don't aim to ever have to carry a 60 to 100 pound cab again!

Of course, you're right.  But the store had a crimson one and for some reason my wife didn't get all excited when I offered to sell my current Jazz and buy the red one.  Huh.
