I really like the inlays that are flush with the edge, like the shark tooth ones too.  I like the off center stuff a lot!

Started heating the binding and forming it to the edges.  What a bear going around the corners!  But it's looking great so far.  Hope to get it all glued up this weekend.

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Yep, it ignites much easier than you'd imagine!  Keeping a damp rag nearby is always smart!

This stuff is plastic of some sort, not celluloid.  I do have some celluloid stuff and you do have to be careful with it.

What a nice project! I love that bodyshape, and very nice choice of the details: thumbnail inlays, binding on the body.

What kind of headstock shape will this bass get, or did I miss that?

Funny you should ask!  I haven't decided yet, but I was toying with the idea of a fin-like shape, mirroring the body.  Or, something 2+2 like the typical Gretsch version.  The headstock is uncut at present.

This is a very cool build, I love when new pics are added.

A 2+2 headstock should be very nice, after seeing the body of your bass, I had to think about this one a bit, with also a 2+2 (from a Belgium luthier):
