To celebrate its 75th Anniversary and its unique history, the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund is proud to present a very special fund-raising concert. On October 25th at 7:30pm a whole host of stars will perform for the Fund at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones have announced they are reuniting for this prestigious charity event! Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman will join them on bass with a host of special guests.

Backed by Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings throughout the show, artistes will include Mick Hucknall Simply Red, Melanie C, Paul Carrack, Lee Mead, Mark King and Mike Lindup (Level 42), Andy Fairweather Low, Kiki Dee, Chris Difford, Georgie Fame, Jan Akkerman, Albert Lee, and Martin Taylor.

Sorry, but without Ronnie Lane, or even Rod the Mod, this will not really be Faces.  It might be pretty good, but both voices of Faces are not going to be there.

yet another 'reunion' without some major players. doors, queen, journey, the who, black sabbath etc. just a quick payday courtesy of the folks who enjoy such a farce.

Agreed that it's not really The Faces. Still, it's raising money for a benevolent fund, not a quick payday.

Apparantly Rod the Mod bailed out several times in the past 2 or 3 years at the last moment for his own personal reasons. Those other 3 were all good friends going way back. Lane is irreplaceable of course, but I'd say Wyman is a good stand in. He should use his old Framus basses for that 'sound'. Actually a good stand in for Marriot would be Robert Plant believe it or not. He took many cues from Marriot if you listen to his early stuff prior to and on the first Zep LP. I saw him in a few different situations including the transition from the Yardbirds to Zep where he was amazingly like Steve Marriot. But maybe Steve Winwoods voice could do the job too. I always hated Stewarts voice anyway!

I always loved the Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane LP Rough Mix.

Rough Mix is a great album. I listen to Heart To Hang On To too much.

The Faces anounced a world tour, if I'm right.

The singer is Simply Red's Mick Hucknall instead of Rod the Mod. Glenn Matlock (Sex Pistols) is on bass.

It really won't be The Faces without Rod Stewart.
But I do think Mick Hucknall can pull off a better job than Rod Stewart could these days.

I have derided Simply Red in the past often enough, but Hucknall can sing, period.

Re Roddy, I only heard this recently, but it might be old news to you: He had a throat cancer operation ten years ago. It put an end to his hollering capabilities - all his ensuing "GreatAmerican Songbook Vol- I-IV", the rock covers CD and his newish soul classics tribute were basically therapy to get his punished voice going again. These days he can still croon sweetly, but not holler over your typical Faces melée.

If that is true then it gives his non-participation a different slant. Looking back, his voice on the recordings of the last ten years does sound quite a bit different to his previous stuff and has lost that football stadium raunch, his voice sounds vulnerable for a lack of a better word, which it never did in the past. I thought this was a symptom of him selling out totally, but it might be down to sheer physical capability.

I actually liked his Soulbook album.    Faces fans will probably wince though:
