It's a counterfeit.  >:(  Seriously. It's a converted Hamer Slammer. He glued in the neck, faked the headstock, logo and TRC and veneered the top and back.

And the counterfeiter is proud of it.

Is that a Hipshot bridge mounted backwards  ???

You know what? I like it. It's lovingly done, reminds me of the Mon(k)ey basses,

the modernistic pups being the only glitch. Fin reminds me of my prototype Ripper.

Not bad at all. Just like in sex, I prefer lovingly applied deception to lackluster honesty with basses. Fake orgasms are ok as long as they are sincere.

I'm kind of enamored by it as well. It's something that Gibson should reissue (meaning the LPJr slab shape on a bass), and it looks more pleasing to the eye than, say, a backwards Flying V or an Explorer with holes in the body. Except for the black hardware, I mean. ;D
BTW, I just ordered one-a-them newfangled Hipshot 2 bridges for my '72 EB-3, "Stinky". I'm anxious to see if it's all it says it is. Anything has to be better than the Evertilt!

Yeah man, I would rock that.

Are y'all sure it's a Hamer Slammer? those have bolt on necks... this appears to have a set neck, it's thicker at the heel anyway.

I'd be in the dog house if the wife found out I wanted another bass... but it would be worth it since short scales rule!

He put a lot of work in it. Absolved.

He isn't going to live forever. Somewhere down the line, he or his heirs will sell it. And even if they're up front about it, you can count on some subsequent seller misrepresenting it as a "super rare one of a kind custom shop special order Gibson." To me, that's just not right.

This isn't like putting a Gibson TRC on an Epi. This is a pseudo-mahogany Slammer intentionally concealed. The Hipshot bridge is worth more than the bass.

Putting a Gibson TRC on an Epi is, well, strained and kind of helpless. Like putting a second exhaust pipe on your car when you are still stuck with the same old engine. But this here was a creative process. Just like my Hamer/Gibson Explorer West Coast custom shop thing of unknown originality or Shadowcastaz' homebuilt Gibson Moderne. The effort that goes into these things by far outweighs what you might receive for them from even a misinformed bass enthusiast (and seriously: how many people who are attracted to an original Gibson EB-0 Junior shape bass in the first place would believe this to be the real thing?) - it's not like restamping a seventies LP to make it seem like a sixties one.

I've lost count of how many people on various forums have been suckered by misrepresentations. Yes, this was creative. It's still a counterfeit.
