Regardless of the new price and the "super rare" limited run, I would guess that most lookers will still just think of it as a used Grabber, and not a vintage correct one at that. You can get a vintage one for less than that.

I was gonna say.... Much rather find a nice vintage one for that kind of money.

But the vintage one has a lower quality pup, a cheaper fretboard, a bolt-on neck, a scarfed headstock, less elegant body bevelling and a cheaper bridge. No comparing the two really. The Grabber II combines Ripper authority with Grabber bite.

You know that. How many prospective buyers on eBay know that? Even if they do, they still might not think it's worth more used than an original issue.

I prefer the budget original myself and, Fraulien forgive me, I prefer the black plasitc pickup :-[  IMO Gibson missed an opportunity here and if they would have realeased a faithful reissue of the G3 and Grabber they would have met some success.

Who would wand 62 P bass "reissure" with a set neck?

Someone should grab that - he will not be disappointed. Those basses are great and cannot be reasonably compared with an original Grabber that doesn't have the same sustain nor the same commanding sub-lows. Besides, the more contoured bevelling makes the Grabber II look much more elegant.

Look at the rough finish on the bridge shot, it looks one of those hammered cymbals our drummer had.

Since when is orange peel with Gibson fins worth a mention here? Absence of orange peel is!

The fin of the Grabber II is rustic, yes, bit like the Blackbird, but not nearly as bad. It shows the wood surface and is supposed to, no or very little filler. In real life it gives it sort of a military equipment look that is not un-appealing.

Everybody should have some limited rum. :toast:

There, I said it- no orange peel here- Gibson best finesd bass that I have seen

A finely crafted a bass good or better than any major manufacturer.

That being said I really liked the finish on Uwes faded Paul. You can see that this bass would relic quickly to a great looking road bass.

To conclude the orange peel investigation, can we now have a pic of your butt, John?
