Jules... got stuck at a "Shhh... Secret Squirrel" site in Towcester twice last week... you're only about 75 miles or so and a darn site closer than "Gibson Central", a little further east than the pair of us... I may take up your offer some time... Ta...

One of the yardbirds used to live next door to me (prior to when we moved in in '92) ... useless info... oh so typical of me...

You'll have to let us now your opinion when you get her...

It is the same seller, because the location is the same (Wamberal).  I suspect this is the usual seller's (dazzawazza) wife's account.

$480.00 is a good price for such an oddball. I paid almost double that for mine & it's silver. About ten years ago I could have had one for about $350.00, with hardshell case. I waited too long & a road manager for the group Beck bought it. On his websight, he still lists it as one of his basses. Any idea how many were produced?

Wait... what? We now have three 20/20 owners here!  :o

Grog

That's how I found this sight in the first place, Googling Gibson 20/20........... It took me a year to convince myself to buy it! ??? It makes some of my other stuff look normal......

ooh, ooh, ooh, please post a pic. Mine comes in a (obviously specially made) gig bag.

What's yours in Uwe?

yeah I was happy with $480. Still hasn't got here yet, but can't be too far away. Any string recommendations. My usual flatwounds might be a bit too old-school for such a bass.

Any news from Ned Steinberger Uwe?

Rhythm N. Bliss

Congrats Jules! Cool lil buggah  8)

I've got a Steiny Spirit. It's headless so it's even more 80s.
...but it ain't a Gibby.

uwe

No news from Ned so far.

Mine has the (neck-heavy) condom gig bag too.

Re strings: Yes, that bass wasn't made with flatwounds in mind, but who says flatwounds don't sound with an active bass? Actually it's quite a good combo, because you get presence snap and bass ooomph, but the sound is not as hysterically "there" as with rounds. I currently have Elixier micro-coated rounds on mine which aren't the world's most aggressive strings, but even they still have plenty zing. Look for strings that have an emphasis on mids perhaps as that part of the frequency spectrum is underfed with the 20/20.
