Best Twitter feed ever?
« on: August 25, 2009, 03:24:18 PM »
I don't see the point of Twitter, but this guy has put it to good use just posting things his dad says: Sh!t My Dad Says  ;D

WARNING: NSFW LANGUAGE

Amazing how this has gone viral. When I saw it yesterday morning I think he had something like 130-140 followers. Now he's over 75,000 and increasing at about 100 a minute.

Funny.

What's REALLY funny is that the guy is 28 & still lives with his dad. WTF?

Like it or not, that's becoming the norm these days. Between the high prices and crappy employment situation, more offspring are moving back to or staying put with Mom and Dad. Frankly, if they're saving to buy their own place it's probably the smart move. Pay rent and you have nothing to show for it but the cancelled checks. OTOH, if they're doing nothing but buying basses with the money, they should get thrown out da house. ;D

Call it a hunch, but I do sense that the dad has an ever so slight resentment of the son still being under his roof.  ;D

Some people who are able choose to help take care of their parents in their twilight years. I had the opportunity to do so and it was the best gift I ever got, getting to know my father man to man. Living cheap didn't hurt either, but it wasn't about that. I lived with them from 27 to 34 and would do it again in a heartbeat if they were alive.

@lowend1 - My dad used to love seeing which hot rod or motorcycle I came home with next. When I rolled up on the Harley he only lamented the fact that he wasn't well enough to take it for a spin. Good times...

I don't get the sense we're dealing with the same situation here, but you never know.

OldManC,
I hear ya. I left home when I was 17 , largely because I couldn't stand my father. I came back home when I was about 32 to take care of him when he was ill. Yeah , there were times over the 3 years I looked after him  that were a major pain in the butt. However , I wouldn't trade that time for anything in the world.
We got to know one another man to man and I think both of us were kicking ourselves in the ass for being such stuborn jackasses all those years. Never knew how much each other had to offer. Life's Short.

Damn Rick, I'm sitting here with something in my eyes thinking of my dad and feeling grateful that you got the chance to figure that out while you still had time. Thanks for that. Now where's that Kleenex... Must be my allergies.  ;D

I've probably (with a bit of luck) got another 10 good years with my Dad. I am so glad that I appreciate what a great bloke he is now. I intend continuing what started a few years back in  as much as the time we spend together now.  :)

Living with your parents is common place too here in greece, even if you are 30 (or maybe 40 sometimes). Blame it on the high cost of life here, combined with the ultra-low salaries. I left home when I was 25 and I don't think I'll get back, except on "emergency" (knockin wood!)!
