Dimarzio Model G position

I've got my hands on a Model G pickup and want to throw it into a home made mahogany body that i'm building. I already got two Schaller Jazz P.U.'s that i was going to use so now im thinking about making a 3 P.U. bass.
I have no idea of how the G play's but know that someone here (G.O.T.) love'em. Does anybody have any sugestions?

I like them right in the sweet spot, say where a Thunderbird II pup would go (3 1/4 ") from the butt of the neck. It will pick up all the rich harmonics there. To woofy for a base of the neck install imho, might sound good near the bridge but I have never put one there.

Ok, thanks. I'm using a P neck, dont know if the "butt" of the neck are the same, could you give me the distance from the 12 fret?

On a '67 Thunderbird II it is 9 7/8" to the 12th fret.

I was gonna say GOT is the guy to ask . Id agree on the sweet spot for a single. The Moderne I built has 2 in normal HB placement. I played kit with the guys for the 1st time on sunday . They looked at it and said WTF is that!!!Meaty,Beatie Short & bouncy is all I can say . Great pups & wopuld do fine as a single ,maybe better!

The model G does fit in the '76 covers I have Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that gives me a idea !

That's cool that the G's fit in TB covers! If I may hijack the thread for a minute, what's the difference between a Model G and a Schaller Bassbucker? I read something a while back about Schaller copying the G after it was discontinued...

I have a Schaller in the parts box but I have never used it. Something tells me it will be tamer.
