My, they're proud of that one, aren't they??

I can't remember seeing a doubleneck Hofner before. Price doesn't surprise me at all.

If you like this one, you might prowl around for old Carvin doublenecks.  I've seen those floating around out there before.  They used to source some of their parts from Hofner.

Actually, this thread got me looking at old Carvins, and now I done gone off and setup a notification on Ebay .  Not for these doublenecks, but for some of the other Carvin/Hofner hybrids - like the ones pictured here http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/hofnerfs/factfiles/carvin.html

This act usually results in depletion of discretionary funds...  so if I ever end up with one, its all Ken's fault :)

Joe, how could you be so cruel...?  ;D

That Carvin EB2-a-like looks awfully like my first bass, a weird copy called a "GRENN" of which I know only have the name plate - still have a hankering for another semi, but gotta do a lot of ebaying first...

I've seen at least two 191's on eBay before. I thought it was ugly but that's just my own taste, YMMV.

Here's another one on eBay - $5K BIN (it was originally listed with a $7K BIN price):

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hofner-Double-Neck-191-i-1960-SUPER-RARE_W0QQitemZ250459297985QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item3a508998c1

Never played one but the placement of the control plate on the bass side will make it difficult (if not impossible) to play with a pick.

There are current Asian knockoffs of this model.
