My girlfriend ordered her first Gibson yesterday.
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:20:16 AM »
A big day!

My girlfriend Loes has some nice and affordable guitars: An Epiphone Sheraton completely modified over the years with Gibson pots, bridge, switch and so, a reissue '72 Tele Thinline, a nice Guild acoustic and she owned and sold an Epiphone SG and sparkle red LP. Oh, and I gave her a Hello Kitty Strat;) She still has that one.

Her weapon of choice the last couple of months is a sunburst '57 reissue Epiphone Les Paul jr. The one with set neck and a P100. A very cheap but als a very nice guitar. Some Gibson players were impressed by it. But yesterday she ordered the real deal: A white reissue '58 LP jr. in white. From the cheaper series with thin laquer. We hope it's in within a week or so.

Loes (for the last time?) with Epi Jr.:

Good for her.

Nothing like a simple one-pickup guitar with a wraparound bridge.

Yep, almost all my heroes play P90 guitars. Some of them with wraparounds.

Cool guitar!

I'm a long-time fan of the LP Jr. Mine is a 1986 Gibson '57 reissue - those had separate tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece - not period-correct but effective. The key to getting great clean tone from the bridge-position P90 is to dial the volume knob half-way down.

Like Dave said, "nothing like a simple one-pickup guitar"... my other Gibson (1961 ES125T) has its single P90 at the neck.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

almost nothing beats the sound of a single p90 played over an tubeamp just going over the edge.

Well, she can handle that too, with her British Racing Green Fender Deluxe with dark grey grille cloth and cream chickenheads:)

Loes looks gorgeous with that Epi Jr!
The burst matches the colour of her hair beautifully.
Great pic.

Bet she'll look great with a Gibson Jr too  ;)

Thanks Rob! I'll forward it to Loes.

I think this pic is made by Berth's girlfriend.
