What model should BaCH build next?
« on: June 16, 2009, 03:36:43 AM »
Now that we're getting close to a beautiful ending of thi project, what would be the obvious continuation? There's still dreams out there, dreams to fulfill (with a gravely voice). What about a reversed model T? In colours such as the ones we've got, plus cherry red? If it was possible to get them, at around the same price, there would be (almost) no need to look furthur, as Ken Kesey once put it.

Of course I already gave BaCH a few suggestions.
Roman told me the development and production cost of the bridge weighed pretty heavy on the whole project.
So I suggested they build some more basses that feature that bridge /tailstop configuration: a Non Reverse Tbird IV (with two pickups), a Reverse Tbird II and IV, a Fenderbird and maybe even an Embassy.

Roman told me he was really interested in the Fenderbird idea. He even asked me for some additional info. So I sent him some pics.
I have no idea what the status of that project is...

I'd go for a Non Reverse Fenderbird!

I would definitely buy an Embassy and would be very interested in a Fenderbird. A Fenderbird would also be a lot cheaper to send to the U.S. if they shipped it as a separate neck and finished body. I would also be very excited to buy a reverse TB II.

Heh, I emailed Roman this morning who emailed me immediately. I can still get a BaCHbird as long as it's black or blue, so I've signed on for a black one.  :)

What about a long scale Eb0, -59 version? With a T-bird pup?

I doubt if there would be a large demand for that...

Well, who would ever thought there would be such an interest in a non rev? On the other hand, what about an Eb0 with original model PU? I am easy fellow! But the long scale is a must!!! ;)

The non reverse has been the most popular of the rare Gibsons for a long long time, first in the Pit, from then on. It has to be the most requested basses to be re-issued here and previously.

Rob you should do a poll.

The whole idea here was a reissue. I would be surprised if there were a demand for something that never was (e.g. long scale 59-style EB-0).

Shall we separate this into its own request thread?

I'd go for an Embassy in a heartbeat.  The nice thing about that is that the bridge is already done at BaCH.

Now, David, is this your way of saying something about the Fenderbird?  ;)

There are several Fenderbirds worldwide. It is a legendary design made famous by John Entwistle.
I have never seen a long scale 59 style EBO with Tbird bridge/tailstop and Tbird pickup.

So if Entwhistle had put a long scale neck on an Eb0 body, then it would have been all right? Naaaw, come on now! Let's be just a little bit broadminded! It's almost mid summer!!!

Haha Staffan, what I meant with the Entwistle remark is that lots of people want an instrument just like their favorite artist.
So if Entwistle would've done that to an EB0 I'm pretty sure there would be lots of bass players that would want one, yes.

It's not up to me to decide. But for BaCH it's only interesting if they can expect a demand for such a bass.
I'm afraid you may be one of very few on this planet who wants such a bass ;)

Leon Wilkeson got his Fenderbird from John Entwistle.
