New neck for my Dano
« on: May 17, 2009, 02:46:06 PM »
Turns out the frets were put in pretty poorly on my '63 Reissue longscale Dano bass. The shop did they best the could but suggested I find a replacement as the fretwork would cost $80-100. So, I found one on eBay which had been removed from a new bass damaged in shipment. Brought it to the shop and picked it up yesterday. Man, it's a LOT better: a totally different playing bass. I'm happy!

Do you mean you found another Dano neck that dropped in? That's amazing! Either way I'm glad it worked out.

I've always had a hankering for a Longhorn. Mostly due to being a big fan of Neil Merryweather.

Pics please Denis

I found a great pic of Neil with his Longhorn but try as I might I could not upload it. Every time I tried loading it into Photobucket, it crashed. Argh.
Here's my Dano...

I DID, believe it or not. The shop didn't even have to adjust the truss rod: it was PERFECT! It plays so much differently I have to get used to it all over again.

That bottom pic of Neil is the one I found this morning which locked up Photobucket every time I tried to upload it. It's a cool pic!

Ray Lowry was a regular contributor to the NME and Punch, amongst others and I used to collect his cartoons; I have a scrapbook full of them and have been watching out for his originals, but never got one; probably could not afford one, and now he has gone, October last year...

He was particularly associated with The Clash, even designing the cover for "London Calling" ...

Google images has loads of his work...
